Leaf Spots, Blight, Melting Out

Predisposing Factors

• Susceptible cultivars
• Close mowing
• Excessive nitrogen

Leaf spotting is favored by wet periods in spring and fall, and excessive irrigation; foot rot and melting-out develop after the leaf spot symptoms.

Cultural Control

Raise height of cut, avoid excessive nitrogen and irrigation, use resistant Kentucky Blue Grass cultivars such as Merion, Bristol, Nugget, Touchdown.
